Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is nominated once every two years at the National Convention. The current Committee will hold these positions until July 2023. As the national governing body of Delta Epsilon Mu, the Committee is responsible for the upkeep and development of the national interests. We work with the Board of Directors, which is composed of two representatives from each chapter to ensure the success of our prestigious organization.

Randell Rueda (he/him/his), M.D was born and raised in San Jose, California but is a Central Californian at heart, having lived in Fresno and Merced since 2001. He became a Founder of the Theta Chapter at the University of California, Merced in 2009. He graduated in 2011 with a B.S. Biological Sciences with Emphasis in Microbiology/Immunology, a Minor in Anthropology, and a Minor in Public Health. He went on to attend the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, graduating in 2017 and matching into Family Medicine. He values mentor-ship and membership advocacy, making a conscious effort to give back to students as much as possible. He previously served as the Vice President of Membership in past terms. Outside of his professional endeavors, Randell enjoys listening to music, reading, writing, and learning about other cultures through cultural immersion.

Dr. Rueda is part of the Founding Class of the Theta Chapter, and part of the Elite Family.

Brecklynn Van Uden (She/Her) was born in Oceanside, CA but has moved across the US, including Arizona, Illinois, Virginia, and Rhode Island. She currently lives in Fredericksburg, VA. She attended the University of Rhode Island and completed her B.S. in Psychology with a focus in Neuroscience in 2020, becoming a member of the Eta Class of the Alpha Zeta Chapter. She is currently pursuing concurrent RN and MSN programs with a focus on neuro/surgical nursing and leadership, respectively, through the University of Mary Washington and the University of Michigan. She anticipates graduation in Fall 2023, with plans to either pursue a DNP or MD/DO program later on. She concurrently serves as the Alumni Representative for the Alpha Zeta Chapter. As someone who lives with chronic illness, advocacy and peer education are special interests. When not working, studying, or helping others, she enjoys cooking, spending time with family, caring for her dogs, watching TV and sewing. Brecklynn is fluent in German and enjoys incorporating her culture and heritage into work and recreation.

Lawrence Chen (he/him/his) graduated from the University of California, Riverside in Spring 2020 with a B.S. in Biology. He aspires to become a sports physical therapist in order to help people and athletes overcome physical difficulties. He is currently taking two gap years to fulfill his remaining prerequisites for physical therapy school and gain clinical and work experience. He has become extremely passionate about DEM and has expressed his desire to give back to the fraternity that has given him so much over the years. Lawrence’s hobbies include working out at the gym, playing badminton, watching movies, traveling, and playing with his Little’s two cats, Carbon and Fiber.

Allajah Blugh (she/her/hers) was born in Sacramento, California but currently resides in Merced, California. She graduated in May 2019 with her B.A. in Public Health from the University of California, Merced. She currently works at the university within the Department of Sustainability as the Zero Waste Coordinator. She has future plans to go back to school to obtain her Master of Public Health with an emphasis on Nutrition, in hopes of becoming a Registered Dietician and helping others manage chronic conditions through dietary changes. She has previously served as the National Director of Judicial Affairs. In her free time, Allajah loves to cook, roller skate, and explore new things.

Alex Waldherr (he/him/his) is a Midwesterner through and through. He was born and raised in Elmhurst, Illinois and then pursued his undergraduate studies at Miami University in Oxford, OH where he became a Co-Signatory and Founder of the Phi Chapter. He graduated in 2017 with a B.A. in Microbiology, a Pre-Medical Studies co-major, and Minors in Neuroscience and Molecular Biology. He went on to attend the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis, IN and graduated in 2021 after matching into Family Medicine at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. His professional interests include health policy and MAT. He has served as the National Director of Philanthropy since the establishment of the Department of Philanthropy in 2015. Recreationally, Alex enjoys coaching and playing water polo and spending time unsuccessfully training his corgipoo, Lennon.

Jessica-Marie Mariano (she/her/hers) graduated from the University of California, Merced in May 2019, and received her B.A. in Psychology and Minor in Anthropology. She joined Delta Epsilon Mu in Spring 2018 as a part of the Theta Chapter’s Tau Class. In reflecting on her experience in DEM, she values the relationships she has made, as well as the support and encouragement her siblings and members have given her. She currently serves as the National Vice President of Membership, but previously served as the National Director of Standards and as the Alumni Representative for the Theta Chapter. In May 2022, she completed her two-year post-baccalaureate program at California State University, San Marcos, with plans to apply to medical school in 2023. In the future, Jess hopes to become an emergency medicine physician and plans to use her medical training to serve underserved and underprivileged communities around the world. In her free time, Jess enjoys grabbing coffee or boba, hiking, learning about different cultures, and traveling.
